What is the Cooperative Divorce SM Center?

We are mediators experienced in providing assistance to women and men involved in a divorce or separation. Our focus is on facilitating the resolution of the many issues involved in a divorce through the use of non-confrontational dispute resolution approaches. Our mediation methods are designed to help minimize the financial and emotional costs of a traditional divorce.

What is a Cooperative Divorce SM?

In a Cooperative Divorce the mediator listens to and is respectful of the positions of the parties involved in a divorce. We explain the legal process of divorce and discuss options and non-adversarial methods of resolution. The parties are in control of the decisions that are made. Our mediators focus on the total family situation and make suggestions that will ordinarily provide long term assistance to you and your family.

We help with the identification and resolution of the many issues of divorce. These may include asset division, support, child custody and visitation. We encourage the active participation of the parties in working towards the fair resolution of many complex issues.

The parties are requested to gather and voluntarily exchange many documents which are necessary to help make informed decisions. Participants are encouraged to discuss their ideas about what they want accomplished with mediation.

What can benefit from a Cooperative Divorce SM?

Cooperative Divorce provides assistance to people who are looking to reduce the harmful consequences of the traditional adversarial divorce. Our approach best serves people who are willing to participate in a cooperative approach to conflict resolution.

Through the use of voluntary cooperation and the assistance of our mediators the parties review documents, discuss questions, identify issues and review their options in an environment which is structured to help minimize conflict and stress.

When can Cooperative Divorce SM Be Used?

The ARC Cooperative Mediation Center mediators can be used at any stage of a divorce or separation. We work with people before and after they have filed divorce proceedings in court. We work with the parties that are represented by attorneys and parties who want to resolve the divorce by themselves.

Our methods are most successful if the parties involved are willing to meet and honestly work towards a fair and long-term resolution of many important issues. People should be willing to participate in the mediation process with an open mind, listen to various positions and review many resolution options.
