CONFLICT RESOLUTION EXPERIENCE
Judge Farrell handled an unlimited civil independent calendar for the last five years of his tenure on the Los Angeles County Superior Court. He was first assigned to Pomona and then transferred to Van Nuys, where he was Supervising Judge of the Northwest District from 1999-2000. He later transferred again to Chatsworth. A popular judge whose courtroom was known to have a family-like atmosphere. Judge Farrell has a reputation for being efficient, pragmatic, and a good problem-solver.
Judge Farrell began his legal career as an associate at Early, Maslach, Foran & Williams and continued working at small firms through the early 1970s. In 1971, he was assigned to oversee a mining operation in the Philippines as Senior Counsel of Global Marine, Inc. In 1984, he returned to the U.S., where he was Of Counsel to Coleman and Farrell and, later, a U.S. Trustee for the U.S. Department of Justice. In 1986, he was appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court and elevated to the Superior Court in 1989.
