CONFLICT RESOLUTION EXPERIENCE
Judge Weisberg was assigned to the Santa Monica Law and Motion Department handling all phases of law and motion practice, as well as fast track civil departments in Santa Monica, the Central District and Van Nuys. In 1996-1997, he sat as Justice Pro Tempore on the Second District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles and authored the opinion in People vs. Greenberger (1997) 58 Cal.App. 4th 298.
Judge Weisberg presided over many hotly contested and complex criminal trials, including People vs. Raymond Buckey (McMartin Preschool) re-trial in 1990; People vs. Powell, et. al (Rodney King beating case) in 1992; and People vs. Lyle and Erik Menendez in 1994 and 1996. He has lectured frequently at judicial and legal conferences on effective techniques in handling high-publicity trials. He was a speaker on this topic at the annual conference of the National Center for State Courts, the Washington State Judicial Conference, the American Board of Trial Advocates (CAL-ABOTA) 1993 Fall Conference, the 1996 Florida Bar Association annual meeting, and the 1995 annual meeting of the American Bar Association, Judicial Administration Division.
Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court in 1988, Judge Weisberg served on the Los Angeles Municipal Court. Before that he was a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney for more than 17 years and prosecuted many high profile criminal cases.
