Mark Fleischer, Esq.

Mark Fleischer joined ARC in 2003 and has mediated and arbitrated a wide variety of complex disputes. A seasoned transactional attorney and executive, he has spent the past 25 years working in the entertainment industry and is well-versed in entertainment law. Mr. Fleischer is a member of THE PANEL AT ARC, a tribunal of three arbitrators with an exceptional blend of talent in managing, analyzing, expediting and deciding the critical issues in multi-faceted, multi-party, multi-million-dollar business and entertainment disputes.


PRACTICE AREAS

Entertainment law, including motion picture financing, distribution, talent deals, complex contingent compensation structures, rights management and other issues, as well as intellectual property and business/contract law.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION EXPERIENCE

In addition to practicing entertainment law in Los Angeles and internationally, Mark Fleischer has served as an industry executive with responsibility for operations, executive management, and P&L for corporations and law firms.

Mr. Fleischer is currently Of Counsel to Washington D.C.-based law firm Venable LLP. He is also President of Fleischer Studios, Inc., where he is responsible for managing family-owned rights assets, including Betty Boop, the character created by Mr. Fleischer’s grandfather, animation pioneer Max Fleischer. From 1999 to 2003, Mr. Fleischer served as Managing Partner of law firm Hogan & Hartson’s Century City office (formally known as Squadron, Ellenoff, Plesent & Sheinfeld). From 1995 to 1999, he was Senior Vice President and then Executive Vice President-Entertainment Business Development for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc., where he also served as head of the entertainment legal department in the position of Deputy General Counsel. As a Partner in the law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, he spent many years representing numerous talent and institutional motion picture/television clients in the structuring and negotiation of their business activities. He also served as President of Global Television, Inc. and General Manager of Los Angeles TV station KSCI for three years.
