| A well-known commercial litigator and disability rights activist, Nicholas DeWitt brings considerable expertise and insight to ARC. Mr. DeWitt is a firm believer in the use of alternative dispute resolution and has developed a successful mediation and arbitration practice focused on complex business matters. Mr. DeWitt has more than 20 years of experience representing corporations and individuals in federal and state courts in cases involving products liability, toxic torts, real estate, environmental, shareholder and employment disputes, and general commercial litigation.
Mr. DeWitt is currently a founding partner of the law firm of DeWitt, Denney & Painter LLP and was previously a founding partner of DeWitt & Roberts LLP. From 1984 to 1998, he was a partner at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, where he held numerous management positions, including Vice-Chair of the Litigation Department. Mr. DeWitt also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles from 1980-1984 and was responsible for the prosecution of wire fraud, mail fraud, and criminal tax cases. Mr. DeWitt is also widely recognized for his longtime leadership of the Western Law Center for Disability Rights, where he was instrumental in the fight to keep Rancho Los Amigos Hospital open, and for his work with other public interest groups, including Wheels for Humanity and Protection & Advocacy, Inc.
