Alan M. Kindred, Esq.
Alan Kindred is an experienced intellectual property attorney with emphasis on trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition and patent litigation. Prior to joining Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger in 2002 as a senior intellectual property counsel, he was Senior Counsel with Darby & Darby, the oldest intellectual property law firm in the U.S., and Christie, Parker & Hale, one of Southern California’s largest intellectual property boutique law firms.

Mr. Kindred has litigated numerous intellectual property cases in federal courts and settled trademark and patent cases at mediations. He has participated as lead counsel in the international arbitration of a trademark-licensing dispute. He has acted as a court-appointed arbitrator in numerous civil cases and has written reasoned awards in arbitration matters.

Mr. Kindred believes that the settlement of an intellectual property case — where both the stakes and emotions are high — is best suited to a trained mediator who is creative, has experience with people, knowledge of the substantive law, trial, arbitration and litigation experience, and gets results by minimal judging of the parties or their cases. Known and respected throughout the U.S. and the world, Mr. Kindred has spoken on intellectual property issues before national and international panels. Prior to coming to the United States in 1988, Mr. Kindred practiced as a solicitor and barrister in Australia in commercial litigation and intellectual property matters. He is admitted to practice in California, New York and Australia.
