Hon. Robert H. London, Ret.
Since his retirement nearly 20 years ago, Judge London has been one of Southern California’s most popular private judges, typically mediating and arbitrating hundreds of cases per year. He had a long tenure with JAMS and is now with ARC, where he specializes in complex commercial cases, particularly business and personal injury disputes, and is available as a discovery referee.

Appointed to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 1972, Judge London served for 11 years and supervised Discovery and Law & Motion courts. He was Supervising Superior Court Judge of the Northwest, North, and North Central Districts, presiding over 21 trial courts. He served on the Second District Court of Appeals, Division One, on special assignment by the Chair of the California Judicial Council. In 1971, Judge London served on the Los Angeles County Municipal Court. He was Presiding Civil Judge in Van Nuys and a Supervising Judge in the Central District. In 1970, he was elected by Superior Court judges to be a Commissioner, where he served until his appointment to the Municipal Court. Before being appointed to the court, he was in the private practice of law as a partner with Shea & Gould in Los Angeles. Judge London frequently teaches and lectures for universities, bar associations and the CEB, and he is the author of numerous published writings.
