Hon. Anita Rae Shapiro, Ret.
Commissioner Shapiro has presided over civil law and motion, discovery disputes, writs and receivers, family law, probate and general civil litigation during her 15-year career on the Los Angeles Superior Court. Known for her tenacity as well as her broad-based knowledge of the law and her ability to keep litigants focused on resolving disputes, she has settled 80 per cent of the hundreds of settlement conferences she has conducted since her appointment to the bench in 1982.

Commissioner Shapiro brings a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to the resolution of disputes utilizing “common sense and a good grasp of the intricacies” of her cases. Her user-friendly style and impartiality combined with strong administrative ability and general civil background make her an excellent choice as a private judge for all types of disputes.
