Hon. Venetta Tassopulos, Ret.
From October 1971 until January 1987, Hon. Venetta Tassopulos was the Presiding United States Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court, Central District of California in Los Angeles. Before her elevation her tenure as a Magistrate Judge had begun only 10 months earlier, in January 1971.

Throughout her career, Judge Tassopulos has served on numerous court committees, including the Federal Judicial Conference’s Committees on Court Administration and Magistrate Judges. Judge Tassopulos has been an active lecturer at judicial training seminars on trial practices and settlement, and has participated in programs on discovery and Federal procedure for numerous Continuing Education of the Bar and Federal Practice Institutes. She was a Deputy Public Defender and in private practice from 1962 to 1968, practicing before the state courts. She has concentrated since retirement on resolving disputes regarding state civil matters, and is well reputed for being an eminently qualified and fair hearing officer at ARC.
