Hon. Mark A. Weiss, Ret.
A favorite of the Family Law Section of the San Fernando Valley Bar, Commissioner Mark Weiss is now available as a private judge to handle divorce mediation, arbitration and discovery. Commissioner Weiss is known to be thorough, fair, determined and direct, with an exceptional understanding and application of the law. His straightforward approach creates a trusting and comfortable atmosphere in which attorneys and their clients can settle highly contentious divorces outside the courtroom.

Commissioner Weiss has served as a Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner since 1986, where he was assigned to Family Law and Juvenile Court. He was a part-time referee for the court from 1985-86. He maintained a private practice from 1972-86 and was a Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defender from 1968-1972. Commissioner Weiss has served as a member of the CEB and CJER faculties and frequently led seminars and presentations on Family Law issues.

Commissioner Weiss is a graduate electrical engineer and is a founding member of the Superior Court’s Automation/Technology Committee. He has lectured to lawyers and judges on the application of computers to the profession of law.
